SIX

Yes indeedy, Davy is 6 months. Davy and I have been watching the new season of Americas next Top model. I think she has been listening to Ms. Tyra, cuz I noticed a total difference in our photo shoot this month.

This is Davy smeyesing(smiling with her eyes)
Davy looking fierce
Here she is modeling H to T(head to toe)

She is definitely working the homemade onesie I made. And not to mention showing off her accessory(her block). I really can't wait for Americas next top model baby addition, I think Davy would win, hands down.
As for Davy's tricks this month.......
* She is weighing in at 14 pounds 10 ounces and is 26 inches long.
*She is starting to laugh a real laugh, snorts in all. It doesn't happen often. but when it does, there is nothing better.
* Davy has started doing the can can. Mainly with her right leg. The girl can kick. She is in love with her kick toy. Actually I think all my kids like her kick toy right now.
* she is starting to chew on her fingers. I think she might be teething for a real tooth right now, (one that might actually stay in)
*She has taking throw up to the next level. I definitely think she is getting worse. I have to change her clothes as well as my clothes a couple times a day. She is still on 2 meds(xantac & Regalan) for this and we have been thickening her milk with rice cereal, but It's really not helping. Any suggestion?
* Davy's favorite thing in the whole world is being wrapped up like a like a piggie in a blanket. The tighter the better. Even though she'll bust out of it, she falls right to sleep when she has a straight jacket blankie on. With the warm weather and larger baby, I have been just cutting pieces of jersey knit and swaddling her up. Works like charm. Doesn't she look comfy?

I love her eyes! These pictures are so fun and gorgeous. I love it when we get to experience the milestones with our kids. Each one is special:)

Davy has the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen! ANTM is my guilty pleasure. It's so nice to hear someone OWN it!

loved this post. she looks so happy! her onesie is adorable as always, and i love her crocheted flower headband. the head to toe shot is my favorite. and so clever to just use a piece of jersey for a receiving blanket! penny grew out of hers so fast that next time i swore i'd just make my own. hooray for 6 months!

My sister's little girl did the same thing. The doctor finally figured out that she was actually allergic to her formula. They switched to soy and that did the trick.

Your little girl is absolutely adorable. Love those photos! Her hair accessory and onsie are so-o cute.

I LOVE Davy's onesie! How did you make it?

Oh, I just can't stand how cute she is. I may just be a little jel of her clothes. Is that lame to be jealous of a baby? Don't answer that!

Hi! I'm Julie. I follow CJane and checked out your awesome blog.
My preemie boys were on xantac and thickened rice cereal and still projectile vomited several times a day. We tried different formulas, sitting them up for 30 minutes after each feeding and all KINDS of different bottles. We basically found that all of these things helped, but only time will make it go away. Sounds strange, but I miss those days....

I got to hear that wonderful laugh last week and I agree with you...nothing is better!
Love that girl!

I have been following your blog for some time now. Jana Heller is one of my best friends and I linked over from her blog ages ago. Now that so many of your blog stalkers are coming out of the wood work I felt that I should fess up as well.

I adore your blog. Have loved seeing all of your kids pictures and reading of your positive outlook on life has given me much to feel grateful for myself. So thank you for all of that.

My little Olivia, who's now 2, had such bad reflux (she would stop breathing and turn blue) that she had to have surgery at 4 months of age. No good. Before we resorted to that she was on previcid and reglan... and thank heavens for them. I know that feeling of having to change clothes several times a day, its awful. As if we dont have enough laundry to do anyways.

Davy is beautiful...What gorgeous eyes..very precious.

OK, I have to tell you, Davy has the most beautiful eyebrows!!! I know that might sound strange, but I love eyebrows and hers are super cool. Thick and shapely and expressive. She's beautiful!

Beautiful baby!
My almost 6 month old had reflux too. It was a dairy intolerance and eliminating dairy from my breast milk pretty much did the trick. No meds needed as long as I stay off milk, cheese and butter. I was also told by her allergist that babies tend to peak with vomiting between 4 and 8 months. Small frequent feedings helps too. Good luck!

i am a new reader and your fam is beautiful. davy is so cute. love the pic where she is "schmizing with her eyes".
my first daughter who is nine now also spit up threw up a lot. she was my first baby so i thought it was normal. but it was so not. i finally realized that she was allergic to milk. i don't know could be the cause.
if so then you could do soy or something else.

good luck and i am so glad i found your blog through cjane.

We call it a sausage roll. Loved me a good sausage rolled kid. They loved it more. She is beautiful! 6 great months with her. How blessed you all are.

What a cute photo shoot! And what an adorable onesie you made!

I totally think that the spit up thing is cleft related. My boys were both spitter uppers pretty bad and it got better after their cleft surgeries. Here's what helped with us: I had to keep them upright for about 30 minutes after a feeding. also I couldn't lay them down until I had gotten a good burp out. Sometimes that meant I was sitting there burping for 1/2 hour, but it meant no spit up. Lastly, I had their crib mattress propped up for the first year (put a phone book under the top of it so that it is at a slight angle.

With my first son, we switched him to soy and that seemed to help a bit. And if none of those things help, then at least know that they will grow out of it. In the meantime, bibs and plentiful burp rags (as I'm sure you already know) will really come in handy.

Perhaps you've already tried all this or already know. Just wanted to share what helped for my boys.

I know everyone else is commenting on Davy's eyes, but seriously, look at those perfect little fingernails!

As the mum of two older girls and one boy-who-has-dirty-dirty-dirty fingernails, I have to say that it was her eyes in the first photo I noticed the most.

She is precious!

(You really need to start selling your onesies. And did you make the headband, too?!)

Happy 6 months! Love, love her blue eyes. I could stare at them all day! You will have to get her laugh on video and put it on the blog. (It made me smile just thinking about it)

ps: Love the flower, I've been making some, but nothing like that. You got mad skills!!

Yay! Davy is a doll and I'm so happy that not only did she smile with her eyes but she also didn't forget her neck! The throwing up stinks but she looks like she is doing some other really fantastic stuff. We love YGG, can't wait to see it live at Radio City next month. Thanks so much to Scott for bringing it into our lives and thank you for sharing your family!

Love the pics! As said by other comments, we did the Prevacid and Zantac mixture together. That worked wonders. My little man also loved his baby burrito. That's the only way he would sleep.

Oh man, first I have to say that I am really kind of jealous that the swaddle still works for you!! My Wee Dinkins is only 3 months old, but my swaddle tricks stopped working on her last month. *sigh*

OK, now that I got that out of my system - Davy's eyes are SO expressive!! She's a gorgeous girl. Happy 6 monthiversary, Davy girl!

I'm a smidge envious that she lets you (and she still likes it) burrito roll her. Those days are long gone for me, I miss them!

You have no idea how much I love ANTM and so in turn how much I truly enjoyed this post! AWESOME! I'm in love with Davy, and your family and you, thanks for sharing your awesomeness! :) I think Davy should marry my Kimball, she can be the older woman even (as she's about a month older than him)!

I have been reading your blog for quite some time and as a mama to kiddo with medical needs - I feel so normal after. Love it!!! My little guy has reflux (hypotonia). We finally got our under control w/ a double dose of prilosec in the a.m. and a single dose in the p.m. This dosage helped us come completely off of zantac. We got the poop thing moving by adding powdered probiotics to a high sugar fruit baby food and gave it to him in the a.m. We give the "snack" three times a day. Everything got moving quickly. We love, love, love Tyler Florence's baby food - high fiber, lots of natural sugar and the green beans/peas is a guaranteed poop maker! : ) (I would love to live in a world where I could make my own, but I only have so much time in a day, so once I figure out how to incorporate regular hygiene, I'll explore the world of baby food making.)

Thank you again, I never felt like such a "normal" mommy until I found your blog!

Oh my goodness! She is just the cutest. She has the prettiest eyes. I have always been a sucker for blue eyes especially since no one in my family has them. :-)
The last picture is my favorite. I love seeing baby burritos.

I am a lurker but could no longer keep it to myself that I think Davy is adorable--and just wanted to throw in a random $.02 I heard the other day that made me think of you. I have no idea if babies with cleft palates eventually need tissue grafts or anything, but an acquaintance mentioned that you can use naturally extracted baby teeth as a source of stem cells. Don't know if this would be helpful, but made me think of your lovely Davy!
Here's an article about it:

So, I'm late to the party...but I thought I might be able to help. A couple of my girlfriends' kids had major reflux. They tried about a billion things their doctor recommended. Nothing worked much. So, they tried probiotics (both separately, but around the same time weirdly) and it worked really well! They were both nursing at the time, so they gave babies the oral probiotics and took them themselves. Seemed to clear things up even better than the medication. Hope that might be able to help you. Love the onesie & hoping the surgery recovery is going well. Such a cutie, cleft or no ;)
