The (un)Happiest place on earth

Well it is when you go with my 3 kids. Sarah invited me to go to Disneyland today. I thought it would be so much fun to go see the snow(soap suds) and fireworks. So we loaded up 5 kids in the car and Harper immediately starts screaming as soon as we leave. That should have been my clue that this was not going to be fun or easy. As soon as our feet hit the pavement of downtown D-Land it starts. The "I want that, can I get this, pllleeease buy me popcorn, what no roller coasters?! I wish We didn't come here!" Then on top of that add some Harper screams. Harper would not go in his stroller so i had to hold him. We ended up going on 1 ride(buzz lightyear) which always spits you out in the toy department. And every time Ollie gets upset cuz he wants me to buy him a $50 toy, which I always say no. Then he throws a fit and the party is now over. The one bright side was as we were leaving the Castle lit up and it started to snow. The boys jumped around trying to eat the soap suds.  So we got a good 5 minutes of fun. I don't think I will being going back unless I have a Scott or a Beth to help. Please feel free to tell me your Disneyland nightmares.

This is EXACTLY the reason why I refuse to get season passes now that I have 3. Impossible!!

hahahaha. Ya, that's pretty much EVERY trip to Disneyland I've been on. Why did I keep buying passes?

For me it was when the fireworks show was going on and I got stuck in the wall of people. I'm not kidding. Literal WALL of people.

I got so claustrophobic. And I'm not claustrophobic. No one was moving and you couldn't move an inch if you wanted to. And I was alone with two 6 year olds
who I was freaked out some scary smelly dirty man was going to snatch. I just started freaking out right there...Telling the wall of people (who were all freakily staring up into the sky...It was like a Twilight Zone movie) to "Move, move, move, move!" The girls were so bummed cuz they wanted to see the fireworks. B

ut I just grabbed the tops of their arms really hard (I'm sure I left bruises) and pushed my way through all the way out to the exit...AND LEFT!

Wow, I'm getting anxiety remembering it all over again. Ya, it is a bust going without anyone to help and kids who want everything there. No good....

I am so happy you took them!! I felt so bad I canceled on them today. But after hearing about your day...maybe I am REALLY glad you took them!

I might of created the unhappiest place on earth because when I take them to Disneyland, I love to spoil them! I get everything they asked you for (except the $50.00 toy)

I love Disneyland at Christmas! We are going next Thursday or Friday evening if you want to try again.

One more thing.....

The only way I can relate (at least with how old my kids are now), is when we go to the mall for something we "need", and then I get the begging, crying for everything else they don't need.

Gotta Love 'Em!!!

Probably the least of the problem but you can bypass that store after buzz if you keep walking pass it...for next time :)

wow, that was brave of you to take your 3 boys. it's almost like you have to go knowing that it's gonna be all for the kids and that you basically won't have any fun as the adult. i fully expect to do many crappy disneyland trips with whiny young kids and pay rediculous amounts of money for it. it's almost like a rite of passage for parents.

I used to be a day camp counselor, I had 7 six year olds to take care of at D-land. I almost lost my mind and a kid in the process. Their marketing is genius,it makes kids want EVERYTHING!

kinda like when you took nathan to disneyland and all he remembered about the trip was that you didn't get him the buzz lightyear toy? haha! my mom might have blown it for you by spoiling them when she takes them there.

We went last Christmas and Sophie HATED the lines, she was so angry. Also we couldn't find a single Princess. Which made Sophie even angrier. Mac was chill, he was 1 1/2 at the time. I just gave him non-stop food and never took him out of his stroller.

Ruthie what a cute blog I love it! This past christmas my Dad gave amy and my families annual passes to D-land it was really fun to have them but I'm kind of glad they are almost up. It almost takes away the excitement when you can go all the time unlike when we were kids and it was like maybe once a year if that. I remember being so excited the night before I could hardly sleep I want them to feel like that too.

My mother-in-law takes us every year in July. So you can imagine I have about 20 horror stories.
The one I can remember most is actually next to Buzz Light Year ride. It's that stupid rocket ride. The line looks short (because everyone except me knows how crappy the ride is) but then it never moves. It was straight up noon and we just stood there starring, with the sun beating down on us, at the ride going around and around and yet the line didn't move one inch. I had to keep holding my kids (ages 4 and 1 1/2 perfect age for long lines) because they were bugging all the other "happiest people on earth." I got in a fight with my husband (yes in front of all the "happy people") because I wanted to leave and he wanted to stay. At the end of it all I threw out my back holding the kids and got to spend the rest of the week hunched over like a 90 year old hiking all over D-land. Ahhh, good times.
