Bake Sale

Oliver's school is having a bake sale for CHOC hospital next week. It's put on by the second graders(Ollie's class.) Oliver was so excited about it. His homework tonight was to make a poster for it.

Ollie: Mom, I really want to put a picture of Davy on my poster because I think we can make more money if people can see who they're helping. I want one with her clefty smile.

Me: Are you sure? You don't think kids will make fun of her, do you?

Ollie: looked at me and said, NO, that's when she looked the cutest!!
I have missed her big smile. (Cue mom tears.)

SO if you are in my neck of the woods next Tuesday thru Thursday,
before and after school, come and buy some yummy treats.
Last year they raised $700. I think we can top it

P.S. He also insisted Davy's name be written in gold. You know Ollie loves him some bling bling.

What a sweet guy you are raising! Also, a very cool guy. My four year old son is in love with The Aquabats and would be in shock to see another kid with MC on his shirt. :-) May he be able to raise LOTS of money during the sale.

Wishing you success on your bake sale.

I read about Davy's VUG or whatever that bladder thing was. That is torture for a child or just about anybody. I wish Davy could just play with her toys.

Yes, I think Ollie had a good idea to put Davy's picture on the poster.

Best wishes to you all.

What a wonderful story of love and encouragement. I would love to share my story with you. I was born in 1959 (a very different time) with a multitude of similar differences (Bilateral Cleft Lip/Palate, minor cardiac and internal diff). I like Davy was in an awesome, happy, laughing, joyous & loving family. Like Davy, everyone adored me too!!! lol My mother told me a few years ago (She is 86 now !!!) all my siblings, cousins, neighbors and friends all thought that they were teaching me things as I grew up..but Mom said I had been the teacher all along. I had shown every person whose life I touched how to just love me, my spirit, my laughter, my touch and my being - just for me. Life was far from easy but for all of us, it was just normal !!! She always was so proud that things that her friends were concerned about regarding their kids how to teach them empathy and acceptance - This conversation held no merit or even made any sense in our house as I was just a kid, of course I was capable kid, no question I was a tough kid, Because I was their KID !!! I WAS JUST ME !!! Can't wait to read more of your archives - really sweet, funny and encouraging. Would love to send you a little story about myself and my trials through life (far from boring..lol) Thank you so much for the lovely stories. Take care & God Bless.
