This picture was taken moments right before Davy was born. We were told a lot of maybes and what ifs. We were both incredibly scared.
I've been thinking A LOT about the past year. I thought how I wish I could have shown myself what was in store. But I don't think that I would have believed me. I really wouldn't have thought me capable. But when your child's life is at stake, you become capable. And unfortunately you have to learn this the hard way. No one can tell you or show you. You just have to learn it for yourself.
So...... it's a year later and I am no longer scared. I am happy, grateful and feel so very blessed.
I kinda get why we celebrate birthdays now. Because today Davy is turning one and I have never felt more like celebrating.

Do you read "Enjoying the small things." I hope I wrote that right. Nella has Downs. Her Mama was so like you in this picture. Nella is doing so well and is adorable like your Davy. I have a special needs son that we adopted when he was four. Although he looked so typical he wasn't. That made it harder for people to understand him. We went through so much raising this one for sure.
I just read Davy's medical history. I didn't realize that she had so much going on. I think she is doing great. I so enjoy hearing about her and seeing all your sweet photos. As hard as I know this is for you .......you are blessed.

Thank you for your post, we too learned the hard way what we were made of w/ my little guy's unknown/terminal disease. We, too are so thankful that this is what God had in store for us. We always say that we are supporting characters in our little one's story. However, I had a terrible night full of nightmares last night, this is just what I needed to lift me up. Thank you for sharing Davy's journey and Davy you are an amazing one year old! Congratulations!!!

Your blog has an incredible way of making me laugh and cry. I cried my way through this post, I started tearing up before I even started reading, as soon as I saw the photo.

My baby has spent the past 5 months in the NICU and will be home soon...this post expressed my thoughts perfectly. Thank you for your honesty and candid way of wording your life. I found your blog a month or two ago and it has given me hope during some rough times.

Happy, happy birthday Davy!!
