cinco

5 months, can you believe it?!! Remember how last month Davy hadn't really progressed much. Well this month she is like an Olympic athlete training for the gold. Homegirl is doing all sorts of tricks. The funny thing is they all happened within the last week. Almost like she knew I was blogging about her milestones soon and she wanted to showoff.
This may seem simple but she is finally bringing both of her hands to the center. Sometimes she will even grip a small rattle or toy too.
She has finally laughed for me! I once again heard it over the phone when Heather and Ryan were watching her and I was bummed. So I was determined to get some giggles for myself. I did my best stand up routine for her and low behold she loved it and laughed. It's definitely a soft dainty giggle and she doesn't give it away cheaply. She makes you work for it.
Davy is also getting a lot better about holding her head up. She can do it for way longer before she flops it down. But man oh man when she is done she drops hard, she knocked her little toothy today and it started to bleed(yikes).
I saved the best for last....she is rolling over!!!! I can't believe it. As soon as you lie her down whoosh, she's on her tummy. It's her best trick ever. No more baby lounging on the couch cuz this girl is mobile.
She is still a little weak in her core muscles but we signed her up for Pilate's, so I am expecting big things for month six.
Do you love her 80,s glam ruffle shirt? I think I went a little overboard on this one. Whateves, she could totally be in a Prince video.

As I was reading your post I was thinking that, in that outfit, she could totally pass for 'Wednesday Addams" for Halloween. Maybe minus a few ruffles, but it looks really cute! All you need to do it make her a headband (or a hat) with some black braids attached, and 'Voila' meet the new and improved Baby version of the classic girl -- Miss. Wednesday Adams-Shultz. It's just a thought.... and maybe the rest of the family could go as the rest of the Addams'? You could be Morticia, Scott could be Gomez, and the boys could be Lurch, Pugsley, Uncle Fester or Cousin Itt. lol Sorry, I've got Halloween on the brain today for some reason. Glad to know the Miss Davy is doing better!

Looks like you all are doing great. Rolling over on the five-month anniversary of the big birth day--i am impressed with that little feat!

Ruffles are the bomb; let it out, mom.

Just checking in to see how the girl is doing...and I see she is doing quite well! What a cutie, I LOVe those smiles....and I tell ya’...we love mic-key buttons in this house...they are a lifesaver!! We also had the stinkin’ brown catheter hanging out forever with my last son and his button, but with Lily, the doc went straight to the button...I could have hugged him.
You are doing a great job, and happy belated birthday, I must be ancient if you are “old” :) ( and a very big hurray for husbands who give their hard working special needs mamas a day off.....that is so, so important!!!)

I'm stealing your card/month idea (so stinking clever)

My babe is almost 7 mo. and won't dream of rolling. I'm a smidge envious (GO Davy!) (maybe that just means I get to put off baby-proofing!)

I love her little outfit, she's darling.

(I hate randomly commenting on people's blogs I don't know--I found ya via Cjane...I like your bloggy)

Love your blog! cjane sent me over. I'm a mom of a cleft baby too and as soon as I saw Davy a wave of emotion came over me and brought back so many memories of our Annie when she was a baby. Davy is so beautiful! It really isn't as bad as you think. It will all work out. Trust in God and keep moving forward. Our Annie is now 5 1/2 and just started kindergarten. This last summer she had her alveolar bone graft and she did great. It really does get better and if you are like me, you will grow to love their little clefts, and actually miss it when it is gone. It felt like I had a different baby after that surgery. Continue to take lots of pics, Annie loves to look at her baby pictures and talk about when she was a baby and had lots of surgeries. Take care, and thanks for sharing :)
