I'm SO so sad

This is the saddest news indeed. Davy got orthopedic inserts for her little footsies to help support her weakling ankles. Apparently she needs a lot more support and we had had to upgrade to ankle braces. Now that is not the news that saddens me. In fact I am very happy about her ankles not folding in half when she tries to stand. I'm sad cuz none of her shoes fit her anymore!! All the size 4 shoes I just bought
(and she had many)....gone, done, obsolete. In fact Even some of her size 5 won't work. Ahhhh...why?!! The shoes I am most sad about are these ones.

The lovely CJane gave these to Davy and she only got to wear them a handful times. I can't even think about it... It makes me to sad.
Maybe I'll bronze them so I can stare at them for the rest of my days.

So Susan is clearly awesome! I tried to make a pair of shoes from a Martha pattern using felt and, let's just say no one would post a blog about being bummed out that they didn't fit any more. :)

I enjoy how much you love the girly stuff after having so many boys ... I've got a house full of boy stuff myself but not going to try for a girl!

Ummmm...while I feel for your loss, I thought I'd let you know that Lola is just barely fitting into threes...so...well....if your looking for a loving home for all those shoes, I may be able to help. :)

Seriously though, I'm sorry. That is a true tragedy.

Those shoes are adorable. Susan is so dear to help you "fix" your sadness.
Just so you know, my daughter just got the same braces this past week and I cried real tears looking at all the cute size 4 sandals and shoes she "use" to fit in post braces. So, so sad. I mourn your loss as well.
However, "Toms" shoes has some super cute options for kids, and if I remove the first strap of Velcro off the brace, they slide right and in place while the velcro from the shoes help base her brace. Its my little way to keep my little pal cool while saving the world. Granted, she has to go size 6.5 now, but it works and made the loss s little less difficult.

I feel your pain, my one year old has size 7 extra wide feet...yeah try finding shoes that fit those suckers! Since he's so young he needs super flexy especially being a toe walker. So Stride Rite it is...I walk in and just say, Bring me everything you have in 7XW...I usually get to choose from two pairs! He'll be wearing a size too big loosely tied black Converse with his tux tomorrow at my sisters wedding because finding dress shoes was totally impossible.

You've got to love the internet when the maker of the gorgeous moccs is the first commenter.

love those moccs! i've seen them many a times at various craft shows here in utah, so adorable! and dude, i feel your pain. i'm so protective of penny's shoes it's rediculous. one time when she was 4 months old we were in vegas for a wedding, and one of her gold ballet slippers fell off in a CASINO. i looked for an HOUR for that stupid shoe. i don't even know why i tried so hard, that shoe was long gone. i bought another pair when i got home in the next size up haha.

let her wear them to bed lol... There's always a way for you to get your fix, even if she's just sleeping in them ;) It's major sadness when we grow out of shoes in our house too. I think I'm always more heartbroken than the kids. My daughter grew so fast for the first 2 years that everything got put away only after a few wears... total heartbreak!

On a happy note.. Yay for Davy getting the assistance she needs to help her body grow big and strong!

I've read that removing the insole can help make the shoe bigger for orthotics.

Well aren't they worth bronzing if I gave them to her? "C. Jane gifted moccs" are going for huge amounts of cash on E-bay. (HUGE AMOUNTS!!!) We could pay for Davy's college tuition in one bid.

Think about it.

I like Susan's and Cjane's suggestions. One is fixing the shoe situation and the other is helping to pay for Davy's college. I call that a good day!

I know alllllll about this sadness! You can totally modify Etnies, FYI. I have continued to look for dress shoes that will fit over the braces but still have a hard enough sole to offer support and protect the bottom of the orthotics. Let me know if you find any. Did you have a YGG design option?

Sad. My baby just grew out of my fave pair of shoes and I feel like crying. I may have to buy another pair in a bigger size to comfort myself!

Those are adorable shoes...I'd be sad too!

both our girls wore ankle braces (suresteps) for over a year and rocked some pretty sweet converse high tops. what's great is they love chucks even more today, and it's how they learned to tie their shoes.
plus, chucks + girls is way cute.
